Requirements for Major in Psychology

The Psychology major requires a minimum of 13 Psychology courses and one Mathematics course as outlined below.

Psyc 211  Research Methods in Psychology  ("C" or better)

Psyc 311  Field Research Methods  ("C" or better)

At least 1 each from Groups A, B, & C (below).

At least 6 total from Groups A, B, & C

The remaining 4 courses may be from the entire list.

Requirements for Minor in Psychology

 

You must apply to the Department of Psychology for approval of the program of study for the minor.  Without this approval, the minor will not be officially listed on the student's transcript at the time of graduation.  Application forms are available in the Undergraduate Program office (LSII 229).

15 semester hours (5 courses) from A, B, C, D

bullet

393 cannot count toward the minor

bullet

only 3 hours of 391, 392, &/or 394 can count toward the minor

bullet

average GPA of 2.0 or above in Psychology classes

Students completing a minor in Psychology in order to teach Psychology in the State of Illinois must complete a minimum of 20 semester hours in Psychology.
