Dr. Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Psychology program and cross-appointed in Women's Studies at SIUC. She received her dual master's degrees in Psychological Counseling and Organizational Psychology from Columbia University , and doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She completed her predoctoral psychology internship at the University of Maryland Counseling Center in College Park . Her research (using both qualitative and quantitative research methodology) can be broadly categorized in the areas of stress, trauma, coping/problem solving, and health, particularly related to sexual abuse/assault, suicide, and multicultural issues (including race/ethnicity, gender, religion/spirituality, and international issues). Her research articles have appeared in professional journals such as the Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of College Student Development, Career Development Quarterly, and Journal of Multilingual & Multicultural Development. She has published several book chapters on positive psychology assessment, qualitative research methodology, and international/cross-cultural transitions. She is an ad hoc reviewer for several journals (e.g., Journal of Counseling Psychology, The Counseling Psychologist, Cultural Diversity & Ethnic Minority Psychology, and Asian Journal of Counselling).
Dr. Wang is a recipient of the 2004 Council of Counseling Psychology Training Programs Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year Award for her excellence in scholarship and professional development. She has chaired and co-chaired several national committees on mentoring international students and served as the Assistant Director for the Center for Multicultural Research, Training, and Consultation at the University of Missouri-Columbia (2002-2003) . Dr. Wang also co-founded the Taiwan Psychology Network and has served as its Co-Chair since 2002.
