Biosketch


Mary Louise Cashel is Associate Professor of Psychology at SIUC.  Born in San Antonio, she earned her BA at Baylor University and her doctorate at the University of North Texas.  She completed her internship at University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston.  Her scholarly interests lie in the assessment of psychopathology, in adolescence, and treatment and prevention programs for delinquent youth.  She directs a mentoring program for youth at risk for legal and behavioral problems, co-sponsored by the local police department.  She additionally coordinates anger control and Life Skills Training groups for youth in area schools.  She teaches graduate courses in child and adolescent therapy and advanced assessment, an undergraduate course in psychopathology, and she also serves as a practicum supervisor.  She was the 2004 recipient of the Beck Award from the Society of Personality Assessment.
