Congratulations to José Martinez (Jacobs advisee) for receiving a Dr. James E. Walker Presidential Fellowship for 2007-2008 and for 2008-2009. The fellowship honors the memory and ideals of the late Dr. Walker, past-president of Southern Illinois University.
Josh Carlson (Young/Habib advisee) was the recipient of the Arthur Menendez Vision Research Award for 2007. This scholarship honors the memory of Arthur Menendez, a graduate of our department. The award is given to an outstanding student in Psychology or Physiology (alternating years) who is studying the physiological or behavioral aspects of the visual system.
Robert Russell (Schlesinger advisee) is the recipient of the Professor Alfred Lit Memorial Scholarship for Fall, 2009. This scholarship honors the memory of Dr. Lit, a long-time faculty member here in the area of psychophysics and is awarded to an outstanding entering student in experimental psychology.
