PSYC 211: Understanding sampling
You will see a series of frequency histograms. Your task is to identify the real median of the population from which
this sample is drawn. It will cost you $1 per individual sampled. Good guesses (within 2% of the real population value) will earn you $250.
Enter your sample size in the lower left textbox and click the Sample button.
After viewing the sample, put your guess of the population median into the right textbox and click the Guess button.
After clicking Guess, you will be told whether you are correct, your bankroll will be credited if you are close to the right answer, and the next distribution will appear.
After you are done, either print out the final screen and turn it in or print it to a pdf (if you know how) and email it to the TA. PLEASE submit
your first time through, only. We will be studying student responses. After doing it once and submitting your results, feel free to play with
the program to help you understand the relationship between sample size, population distribution characteristics, and the mean/median.
